Creamed Onions
My husband's aunt would always make creamed onions for holidays. They were so good and In always tried to get some leftovers. She always used fresh onions and would spend a long time peeling them. While I do use fresh onions once in a while, I generally use this easier recipe to save some time.
Ingredients
1 tablespoon butter1 tablespoon flour1 cup half and half1/2 teaspoon seasoned salt
1/4 teaspoon white pepper2 pounds frozen pearl onions, thawed1/2 cup panko bread crumbs1/2 cup parmesan cheese
Directions
In small sauce pan over medium heat, melt butter. Add flour and cook for 2 minutes, stirring until smooth and slightly thickened. Add half and half, salt and pepper. Cook for 5 minutes, stirring frequently, until sauce has thickened.
Place onions in 2 quart baking dish. Add sauce and mix until onions are completely coated. Sprinkle bread crumbs and cheese over the top. Bake at 375 for 30 minutes.
