Meatball Lasagna
I make many kinds of lasagna but I never thought of making meatball lasagna until I have leftover meatballs after a family party. The meatballs added a wonderful layer of flavor to the lasagna. This may become the lasagna recipe I make all the time.
Ingredients
Easy Meatballs
28 ounces tomato puree
28 ounces crushed tomatoes3 teaspoons salt1 teaspoon pepper2 teaspoons granulated garlic
2 tablespoons Italian herb mix
12 no bake lasagna noodles
32 ounces ricotta cheese
2 cups shredded italian cheese blend
1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
Directions
Prepare Easy Meatball recipe.
In a large saucepan, add tomato puree, crushed tomatoes, salt, pepper, garlic, and Italian herb mix. Stir until all ingredients are combined. Add meatballs. Reduce heat to low and simmer, covered, for one hour.
Remove meatballs from sauce. Cool for 15 minutes. Slice meatballs.
Spread 3/4 cup of sauce in the bottom of a 13 x 9 baking dish. Spread sauce so it covers the bottom of the pan.
Place 4 lasagna noodles in the bottom of the pan. Spread 1 1/2 cups of sauce on lasagna noodles. Make sure noodles are completely covered. Place 1/2 of the sliced meatballs on top of the sauce. Spread 1/2 ricotta cheese on top of meatballs. Sprinkle 1/4 cup of Italian cheese on top of ricotta cheese.
Place 4 lasagna noodles on top of cheese. Spread 1 1/2 cups of sauce on lasagna noodles. Make sure the noodles are completely covered. Place remaining meatballs on top of sause. Spread remaining ricotta cheese on top of meatballs. Sprinkle 1/4 cup of Italian cheese on top of ricotta cheese.
Place 4 lasagna noodles on top of second layer of lasagna. Spread remaining sauce on lasagna noodles. Make sure the noodles are completely covered. Sprinkle remaining mozzarella on top of sauce. Sprinkle parmesan on top of mozzarella.
Bake at 350 for 45 minutes. Let stand for at least 30 minutes before cutting it into squares.
