Cheeseburger Macaroni and Cheese
Cheeseburgers are so good, especially with the claasic toppings of pickles, mustard, and relish. This macaroni and cheese recipe has all of the flavors of a cheeseburger with extra cheese. I use sweet relish but if you prefer dill pickles you can use a dill relish or just chop up your favorite pickles.
Ingredients
1 pound elbow macaroni, uncooked
1 pound ground beef
4 tablespoons butter
4 tablespoons flour1 teaspoon pepper4 cups milk
8 ounces cheddar cheese, shredded
8 ounces Velveeta, cubed
1/3 cup ketchup
1/4 cup mustard
1/3 cup relish
1/2 cup panko bread crumbs
1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
Directions
Cook macaroni according to package directions. Drain. Rinse with cold water. Place in a large bowl and set aside.
In a large skillet, over medium heat, cook ground beef. While cooking the beef, break it into small pieces.
In a large saucepan, over medium heat, melt butter. Add flour and pepper. Stir with a whisk until flour is completely mixed with butter. Cook for 5 minutes, stirring frequently.
Add milk. Stir with a whisk and cook for 5 - 10 minutes, stirring frequently, until sauce starts to thicken.
Reduce heat to medium low, add cheddar and Velveeta. Stir. Cook for 10 minutes, until cheese is completely melted and sauce is smooth. Add ketchup, mustard and relish. Mix well. Add ground beef and mix well. Pour sauce over macaroni and mix until macaroni is complete coated.
Place macaroni and cheese in a 13 x 9 baking dish.
In a small bowl add bread crumbs and parmesan cheese. Mix well. Sprinkle over the macaroni and cheese.
Bake at 375 for 30 minutes.
