Sloppy Joes
When I was a child, Sloppy Joes were made with a canned sauce. We were having a card night and everyone wanted Sloppy Joes. I couldn't use the canned sauce, so I created my own. My recipe is also loaded with veggies. You can definitely increase or decrease the amount of veggies used in this recipe or chop them smaller if they need to be hidden.
Ingredients
2 pounds lean ground beef
1 onion, chopped
1 red pepper, chopped
1 green pepper, chopped
4 celery stalks, chopped
1 cup ketchup
1 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1/2 cup brown mustard
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Directions
In a large saucepan, over medium high heat, cook ground beef, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned and crumbled. Drain any fat.
Add onion, red pepper, green pepper and celery. Stir and cook for 5 minutes.
Add ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, salt and pepper. Mix well. Reduce heat to medium low and simmer for one hour. Serve on your favorite rolls.
