Sirloin Stew
I created this recipe for a friend who asked if I could make a beef stew without vegetables just green beans. He didn't mind mushrooms and onions, so those could be added. He loved it and has requested it a few more times.
Ingredients
1 1/2 pounds sirloin tips, cut into bite size pieces2 teaspoons seasoned salt2 teaspoons ground black pepper2 teaspoons garlic powder6 tablespoons flour
4 tablespoons vegetable oil
3 cups beef broth3/4 cup merlot1 1/2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce3 russet potatoes, cut into bite size pieces1 large sweet onion, cut into bite size pieces
8 ounces fresh green beans, cut into bite size piece8 ounces sliced mushrooms
Directions
In a large bowl, mix salt, pepper, garlic and flour. Add sirloin tips and mix until the sirloin tips are completely coated.
In a 5 quart saucepan, heat oil over medium high heat. Add sirloin tips and cook for 3 - 4 minutes. Reduce heat to medium and add remaining flour, beef broth, merlot, and Worcestershire sauce. Mix well and cook for 10 minutes.
Add potatoes, onions, beans and mushrooms. Mix well. Reduce heat to medium low, cover and cook for 2 hours.
