French Meat Pie
I made this for the first time for a friend's birthday. He loves French Meat Pie, so I was a little nervous about making it for the first time for his birthday. The pie was a success and now he occasionally ask me to make one for him. My only disappointment is that he puts ketchup on it.
Ingredients
1 pound ground beef1 pound ground pork1 small sweet onion, finely chopped2 1/2 cups mashed potatoes3 teaspoons allspice
2 teaspoons poultry seasoning1 teaspoon salt1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper2 pie crusts
Directions
In a large saute pan, cook beef, pork and onion, over medium heat. Break up meat with a spoon until meat is browned and finely crumbled.
Add mashed potatoes and mix well. Add allspice, poultry seasoning, salt and pepper. Mix well.
Place 1 pie crust into 9 inch pie plate. Add meat and potato mixture. Spread evenly. Place 2nd pie crust on top of meat and potato mixture. Crimp edges and make 8 slits in the top crust. Bake at 375 for 45 minutes.
