Italian Sausage Bites
A friend asked if I could make an appetizer for a party with Italian sausage as one of the ingredients. I wanted to make something bite sized that wasn't messy to eat. I tested a a few recipes and this one was the best. If you want it to be spicy, use hot Italian sausage.
Ingredients
1 pound ground sweet Italian sausage
4 cups baking mix
1 1/2 cups milk
1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
Directions
In a medium saute pan, over medium high heat, cook sausage, breaking it up with a spoon until browned and crumbled. Place cooked sausage in a food processor and pulse for 30 seconds, until sausage is finely chopped. Set sausage aside.
In a large bowl, add baking mix, milk and Italian seasoning. Mix well. Add parmesan cheese and sausage. Mix well.
Drop mixture by tablespoon onto greased cookie sheet.
Bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes.
